Tribes of Europe & Barbara Stretch
Tribes of Europe & Barbara Stretch share video for latest single Rosalind released via Integrity Records.
Featuring the vocals of Barbara Stretch, former frontwoman of Pye Records’ soul sensations The Vernons, and lifted with lush harmonies from Ely Fallen Angels Choir led by CREEPY NEIGHBOUR’s Max Taylor. Opening with dizzying 60’s inspired organ Rosalind is the perfect follow up previous release Let The Big Beat Save Your Southern Soul.
Discussing the latest release multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Martin Elsey explains: “It's about a girl whose hero is Rosalind Franklin. She has a secret crush on a popular girl at school. It's very intense, as these things tend to be when you want something really badly but can't seem to find a way of getting it. The song is her imaginary conversation with Rosalind and the girl. Somewhere along the line I started thinking about Joe Meek as well, and he crept into the general vibe of the song ... all these innovators who didn't quite fit in with the norms of the day; maybe their sexuality or gender just didn't quite click."
Talking about the accompanying video Martin comments : "For the visuals I was thinking (again) of Joe Meek. I was kind of imagining the type of video he might have come up with for 'Telstar' if videos had been invented at the time. I wanted the feeling of this amazing chunk of progress swirling optimistically through space and into the future."
