Michael Steele
Edinburgh based singer/songwriter Michael Steele shares new EP There Roams A River available via Bandcamp.
Recorded mostly at home There Roams A River is a collection of five tracks with a sparse lo-fi texture creating a delicateness and beauty which Michael comments on by saying: “You can hear the sound of tenements in lockdown”. With a blend of acoustic guitars and subtle beats played out with strong lyrical content There Roams A River is an irresistible listen akin to early Arab Strap singles, The real beauty of the EP comes from the sense of solitude resulting from the DIY aesthetic which paradoxically generates a fullness to the recordings.
Talking about the tracks on the EP Michael explains: “I was into making something with an ambient feel that was kind of about the fluid nature of worlds. With a kind of organic sounding electronic music, mixed with acoustic songs”.
