Tribes of Europe & Barbara Stretch share new single ’(I Wanna Be A) Pop Star’ on the 17th April via Integrity Records.
Having shared a series of singles throughout 2025, including ‘Opportunity’ and ‘Spooky’, the band’s latest track reflects on the lasting power of pop music and its ability to shape the lives of both performers and listeners. At a time when the global mood—and that of its leaders—often feels heavy, the moments of light and joy created through art, music, and culture feel more essential than ever.
Martin from the band explains: “We were trying to capture that feeling when you’re a little kid and you get that first rush from pop music. It’s like the singers and the guitars and drums and everything have all just beamed down from space to show us how life could be. Eventually reality bites and you learn it takes a lot of effort to look that free, but some of us never lose that first flush.”
While going on to discuss the video Martin comments: "The video uses old-school stop-motion animation like on Bagpuss and The Clangers (look 'em up, kids). I hadn't really done it before, so you're leaving a lot to chance that it'll come out OK at the end, but I just dived in and had some fun. And I think I just about got away with it."
