Pictish Trail

Isle of Eigg-based Scottish psychedelic folk ogre Johnny Lynch, AKA Pictish Trail, shares video for latest single Sorry Eyes. A gloriously old-school analogue video by director Oscar Sansom and producer Beth Allan of Glasgow production company Forest of Black, of Johnny cruising around Glasgow in an open top car in the freezing cold, playback blasting.

Commenting on the video Pictish Trail writes: “This was a fun but freezing video to make – an entire winter day spent driving between the outskirts and inner city of Glasgow, singing a song about doubt, judgement and self-reflection. All the good stuff, haha! There was something cathartic about performing it out loud, in motion, and I love how that sense of release matches the song’s ebullient electro-pop swagger. Huge thanks to Oscar, Beth and cinematographer Michael Sherrington for bringing it to life.”

Video producer Beth Allan adds: "We wanted to keep it simple and analogue for this one – old skool shoot cruising around Glasgow and surrounds in an open top car in the freezing cold with playback blasting! We shot on our Bolex with lovely 16mm reversal, then got the film back and did chemical and hand scratch animation techniques directly onto the film, back to the lab for a re-scan and baited breath to see what it all looked like! No After Effects projects were opened in the making of this video!"

'Sorry Eyes' is taken from Pictish Trail's forthcoming sixth full-length album Life Slime produced by Mike Lindsay, released on April 11, 2026 on 12” vinyl, CD and streaming services via Fire Records and Lost Map Records.available to order now  - an exclusive shop release of Life Slime on Toxic Blue Lagoon vinyl with unique artwork has also been announced.
