Glasgow indie folk-rock collective Merrowfolk share their latest single, “Let Me Be Yours,” alongside video created by band member Freya Giles. The track is the second release from their forthcoming debut album, Understory, due 15 October via Iffy Folk Records.
Formed around Irish singer-songwriter Clare McBrien’s solo project, Mima Merrow, Merrowfolk has grown into a seven-piece collective consisting of members Freya Giles (vocals, electric guitar), Nicola Denman (vocals, synth, percussion), Ali Hendry (vocals, trumpet, flugelhorn), Douglas Knight (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Andrew Macdonell (keys, clarinet, saxophone, bvs) and Alexander Meyer (bass, acoustic guitar, bvs). Shaped by backgrounds spanning folk, punk, metal, alternative rock and cabaret. That eclecticism runs through their music, where brass, keys, synths, guitars and pounding drums and bass sit alongside soaring vocal harmonies.

Following their debut single Beckoning Back, Let Me Be Yours offers another glimpse into the expansive, world of Understory, further establishing their distinctive blend of atmospheric songwriting.
Discussing their latest single Clare shared; “Let Me Yours is the second track on our album Understory and it carries on the theme of longing and desire for closeness from Beckoning Back which is the opening track and our first single. While Beckoning Back looks inward, looking for parts ourselves we lost along the way and wishing them back to the present, Let Me Be Yours looks outwards. It's a love song even if it gets a bit obsessive by the end! It's the love song you sing when you start to know someone pretty well and the more you know them the more you like them. Things start to turn a bit dark after this tune on the record so it's a moment of being unguarded and open hearted before life starts throwing things at you.”

To coincide with Merrowfolk’s latest single, “Let Me Be Yours,” band member Freya Giles has created an accompanying music video using footage captured during their time spent on the Isle of Bute, alongside behind-the-scenes moments taken during their recording at Black Bay Studio.
Rather than a traditional music video, this feels more like a snapshot into their world of Let Me Be Yours; a collection of moments, memories and small details that capture the unique spirit of Merrowfolk. From their time spent together on Bute - to the energy of being in the studio - the footage reflects how much the band love the song, the fun they had making it and, most importantly, the friendships and sense of togetherness at the heart of Merrowfolk.
