The video for “I’m Your Daughter” drops us into a surreal, GTA-style POV — an inventive visual treatment that feels deliberately off-kilter, part digital fantasy and part dark-pop fever dream. Its playful yet sinister edge mirrors Mercy Land’s fascination with suburban unease and heightened reality, adding another layer of tension, identity and escapism to the track.
Commnenting on the track singer/producer Laura Jinn explains: “I was in fourth grade when American Idiot came out. Boulevard of Broken Dreams was at the top of the charts and I remember driving to Sunday school at the mosque, listening to Ryan Seacrest and hoping that we’d be just a little late so I could hear it in full. My favorite thing about music is its ability to conjure feeling, and that music conjured this dark and thrilling desire within me.
So I was speaking to that music when I wrote “I’m your daughter of love and rage / adrenaline junkie for a new age”. I was picturing my friends at school, we were so innocent but so wild with silliness, always impatiently waiting for that time of freedom when we could leave our homes and get in the car and drive to some parking lot or backyard and hang out. We’re still a nation of suburban burnouts but now we have new toys and new prescriptions.”
