Nicol & Elliott

Duo Nicol & Elliott share new digital single Fade Away along with accompanying music video via Last Night From Glasgow imprint Hive.

Following on from recent EP The Storm the duo comprising of Rachel Elliott and Andrew Nicol take on a sense of rockabilly blues with a pulsating bass line and brimming with blues laden guitar hooks which cut through sublimely Fade Away marks a shift in tempo for Nicol & Elliott emphasising their keen sense of song writing.

Again turning to Gabriela Sibilska to help create the video Andrew comments:The video was animated by Gabriela Sibilska in NYC. We loved what she did with our video for Dragging Me Down and thought it would be fun to try a totally different vibe. It's a dumb crush song about seeing someone across a room and needing some social lubricant to be able to approach them. So we wanted something light, colourful and fun. We love the end result and think it suits the song perfectly.

Commenting on the resultant video Gabriela explains; “I worked with Andrew and Rachel before on the music video to “Dragging Me Down”, so we already knew each other and had developed a great level of trust and understanding,Thanks to this, they felt comfortable giving me complete artistic freedom, which made this project even more fun

Fade Away” has a bittersweet tint to it, talking about the hopeless inability to express your feelings, but keeping it so lighthearted and upbeat at the same time. I wanted to match this vibe with a cartoony, uneventful and anti-climactic love story between a bartended and a faceless regular she never actually has the courage to approach, accompanied by a gallery of background characters you would meet on a weekday night at a pub, ruminating on their old mistakes over a pint.”
