Postcards From The Underground returns with a grab-bag heart and a short-wave radio spirit, tunnelling through genres that refuse to sit still. This edition drifts from skewed indie pop and art-rock mischief into psych-tinted oddities, lo-fi confessionals, and folk songs that feel quietly bruised. There’s a playful abrasion running through it all — from the wiry nonsense of Bucket and the mechanical bite of Creche, to the washed-out dream logic of Bibi Club and the technicolour psych swirl of The Claypool Lennon Delirium and Hen Ogledd. Elsewhere, the underground hums with intimate, human voices: Snail Mail’s restrained ache, Courtney Barnett and Waxahatchee’s conversational cool, and Cat Power’s devastating stillness sitting side-by-side without contradiction.

What ties it together isn’t a single sound so much as a shared instinct for emotional honesty, whether it’s delivered through jangling guitars, minimalist electronics, or hushed folk intimacy. There’s modern indie rock rubbing shoulders with alt-folk, spoken-word soul, left-field pop and nocturnal storytelling — Arctic Monkeys’ theatrical glow, Joshua Idehen’s poetic grounding, and a constellation of artists carving small, precise worlds of their own. This Postcards From The Underground is less about genre boundaries and more about mood shifts: curious, slightly unsteady, tender where it counts, and always moving forward — a playlist that feels like flipping through radio stations in another city at night.
